We're making strides on home repairs! Adam called a plaster guy to come repair the soft spots, scrape the popcorn and plaster the ceiling. It looks amazing and it's not even painted yet! (Sidenote: The plaster guy was super sweet and did a phenomenal job! I would highly recommend him to anyone in the Hampton Roads area.) Also, the plumbing guy came and repaired the leaky pipes in the guest bathroom. He installed our tub AND a new access panel, just in case. (This is another contractor I would recommend! So professional and FAST!) The bathroom is almost halfway there!!
Of course, whenever things seem to be going smooth, the universe decides to slightly tap the breaks on your joy ride and smirk when your eyes get big and bulge from your skull.
Last night, Adam and I were looking forward to a relaxing evening just eating ice cream and watching tv. Well, while I was laying down and playing with the pups...our bed broke. I wasn't jumping on it or moving around. Just lounging.
I broke a bed!
Aaaaand....the diet begins tomorrow. ;)
Aside from momentarily feeling like Gilbert Grape's mother, I seemed to be unaffected. By now, broken things have become the norm. Instead of complaining, Adam just laughed and said..."What's next?!" We slept in the guest bedroom and decided to fix the bed today when he got home from work.
That brings us to today.
The rest of my Monday will be spent sanding down the vanity/drawers/doors that we intend to salvage and folding the mountain of laundry in the office. Word of advice: Don't EVER use aerosol paint stripper and THEN try to sand off the excess. The friction of the sander will cause the dried goo to melt and spread rather than sanding off like normal. (Yeh...learned THAT the hard way.) Hopefully everything will be ready for our July 4th 'Murica party...fingers crossed!
In other news: I watched Dead Poet's Society a few days ago and decided when it comes to emotionally charged movies about impacting the young minds of tomorrow, I much prefer Freedom Writers. I would love to teach like Ms. Erin Gruwell.
Also, I had hummus and Wheat Thins for brunch.
